Retro Notes

Retro Notes is designed to let your team give retro input exactly at the right time: when the work is being done and the issue is on their mind. The problem with retro's is that team members often forget about what happened the last couple of weeks and will have a recency bias. Making retro notes during the work helps to avoid this recency bias and means your team members do not need to prepare for a retro, as they have already done so.



Walkthrough

  1. Get started straight away. After installation, head to any Jira ticket and click the Retro notes section
  2. Leave your note, and assign a category (Start doing, Continue doing, Idea)
  3. You may upvote others notes if you find them useful to discuss
  4. Keep your notes in place, no need to do anything with it
Start a retro session
  1. Once your team is ready, either after a sprint or however defined, you can head to the Retro project page
  2. Select the sprint you want to do the retro for, or the start and end date of the time period you want to do the retro for
  3. All jira issues that were updated and have retro notes assigned to them will be included in the retro session
  4. Give the retro session a name, by which you can later find it again
  5. Click 'Start session' to start the retro session
  6. All notes will now appear on the board, on the 3 specified categories. Team members can vote on what to discuss and the retro can start
Revisit a retro session
  1. Go to the retro project page and select an existing retro session instead of creating a new one
  2. A dropdown will appear for existing retro sessions, that you can revisit
